What is Silica Insulation Brick?

Silica insulation bricks are lightweight and heat-efficient refractory products with a silica dioxide (SiO2) content exceeding 91%. It is also known as silica heat-insulating bricks or silica insulating refractories. They are primarily composed of mineral particles such as quartz, tridymite, and cristobalite. Silica insulation bricks are typically manufactured using the burnout method or the foaming method.

Advantages of Kerui Silica Insulation Brick

  • High refractoriness: Silica insulation bricks exhibit high refractoriness. Its load softening temperature ranges from 1400 to 1550 °C. This characteristic makes them suitable for applications in high-temperature environments.
  • Low thermal conductivity: Bricks possess low thermal conductivity, typically between 0.55 and 0.70 W/(m·K). Its insulation effet is better than high alumina insulation bricks. This low thermal conductivity contributes to their excellent thermal insulation properties.
  • Lightweight: Silica insulation bricks have a low bulk density, ranging from 1.00 to 1.20 g/cm³. Their lightweight nature facilitates transportation and installation.
  • High strength: They demonstrate high compressive strength. Its compressive strength surpasses the mechanical performance of other clay insulation bricks.
  • Resistance to acidic chemical corrosion: The silica dioxide content in silica insulation bricks provides resistance to the corrosive effects of acidic chemical media.
